	On Jan 6, 2012, on the Solemnity of the Epiphany for the Roman Church, His Holiness Benedict XVI elected the Archbishop of Toronto to the College of Cardinal of the Roman Curia. Although not quite a surprise since everybody was expecting it since the Archbishop's call to the See of Toronto, it was nonetheless a joyful news. His Grace himself shared to the media that he learnt about his nomination from the a call by the Apostolic Nuntio in Ottawa.	ብ6 ጥሪ 2012 ዓ. ም. ፈ. ር.ሊ.ጳጳሳት ብጹዕ ወቅዱስ ኣቡነ ቡሩኽ መ. 16 ንሊቀ ጳጳሳት ቶሮንቶ ከም ካርዲናል ቅድስቲ ቤተክርስትያን ሮማ ኬገልግሉ ሸይሞሞም። እዚ መጸዋዕታ ውዒሉ ሓዲሩ ኪመጽእ ምዃኑ ፍሉጥ ጳጳስ ቶሮንቶ ኪኾኑ ምስተጸውዑ ንጽበዮ እንተነበርና፥ ዕላዊ ሽመት ምስ ሰማዕና ተሓጒስና።

10 countries with the largest number of Christians

These are some of the key findings of a new report released by the Pew Research Center, called Global Christianity: A Report on the Size and Distribution of the World's Christian Population, which provides data on the world's Christian population by region, country and tradition.

• Almost half (48 percent) of all Christians live in the 10 countries with the largest number of Christians. Three of the top 10 are in the Americas (the United States, Brazil and Mexico). Two are in Europe (Russia and Germany); two are in the Asia-Pacific region (the Philippines and China); and three are in sub-Saharan Africa (Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Ethiopia), reflecting Christianity's global reach.

VATICAN CITY, NOV. 23, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Here is a translation of the Italian-language catechesis Benedict XVI gave today during the general audience held in Paul VI Hall. The Pope reflected upon his apostolic journey to Benin.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Still alive within me are the impressions made during my recent Apostolic Journey to Benin, which I desire to reflect upon today. Thanksgiving to the Lord flows spontaneously from my soul: in His providence, He willed that I return to Africa a second time as Successor of Peter -- on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the evangelization of Benin, and in order to sign and officially consign to the African ecclesial communities the Postsynodal Apostolic Exhortation Africae Munus. In this important document -- after having reflected on the analysis and proposals put forth in the Second Special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops, held in the Vatican in October 2009 -- I wanted to offer several guidelines for pastoral activities in the great African continent. At the same time, I wanted to pay homage and pray at the tomb of a noble son of Benin and of Africa and a great man of the Church -- the unforgettable Cardinal Bernardin Gantin -- whose venerable memory is more alive than ever in his country, where he is looked upon as a Father of his homeland and of the entire continent.
