STUDENTS ASK P.M. NATANEYAHU
NOT TO DEPORT AFRICAN ASYLUM SEEKERS

On the eve of Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, approximately 130 students in a pre-military academy sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling on him not to deport asylum seekers to countries where they would face danger.

The letter was sent in the wake of several reports that revealed the State’s plan to change its policy from “voluntary repatriation” (a policy strongly encouraged by the government, which included jailing asylum seekers in Holot prison) to a policy of forced deportation of asylum seekers from Sudan and Eritrea to Uganda and Rwanda.

THREE ASYLUM SEEKERS WHO LEFT ISRAEL EXECUTED BY ISIS

The Eritreans were likely kidnapped together with a group of Christian Ethiopians in Libya.   ERITREAN.MARTYRS

By Ilan Lior | Apr. 21, 2015 | 10:53 AM

The Hotline for Refugees and Migrants reported on Tuesday that three asylum seekers who left Israel for a third country over the past year have been executed by the Islamic State in Libya. According to the report, the victims were identified by family members and friends.

The three Eritrean asylum seekers were probably kidnapped together with a group of Christian Ethiopians. The group's gruesome execution was filmed and distributed by ISIS on Sunday.

At least one of the three asylum seekers, T., was held in the Holot detention center in the Negev before leaving Israel. T.'s relative, Mesi, told Haaretz that the family identified him in the ISIS video. "He appears in the video and in the photographs, definitely," she said. "He had been in Israel since the end of 2007. He decided to go back after the [Israeli[ Ministry of Interior told him he would be better off."
Will this be a warning to the Israeli Authorities to what will happen again and again if the Africans in Israel will be forcefully or deceitfully deported to Rwanda or Uganda to avoid indefinite inprisonment?  And will the African asylum seekers in Israeli be deterred by this new development of events?

HOW LONG MORE, O LORD?
WILL YOUR ANGER AGAINST US LAST FOREVER?
THE POPE PRAYS FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE SHIPWRECK

Pope Leads Faithful in Prayer For Victims of Sunken Migrant Boat

700 Feared Dead After Fishing Boat Capsizes Near Libyan Coast

Following his Regina Coeli address, Pope Francis lead thousands in praying the Hail Mary for those who died after a fishing boat carrying an estimated 700 migrants capsized off the Libyan coast.

Although Italian border police have rescued 28 people, an estimated 700 people are feared dead in what may be the worst disaster in the Mediterranean. So far, rescue workers have recovered only 24 bodies.

"I express my deepest sorrow in the face of such a tragedy and I assure for those lost and their families my remembrance in prayer," the Pope said.

The Holy Father also called on the international community to act "decisively and promptly" to prevent tragedies like last night's capsizing from occurring again.

"They are men and women like us!" he exclaimed.

"Our brothers and sisters who are looking for a better life: hungry, persecuted wounded, exploited, victims of war. They were looking for a better life. They were looking for happiness. I invite you to pray in silence first, and then all together for these brothers and sisters."

The 78 year old Pontiff then lead the faithful in a moment of silence before leading them in prayer for the victims and their families.

Throughout his pontificate, Pope Francis has brought worldwide attention to the plight of migrants, many of whom are escaping violence, war and persecution. Nearly four months after his election, the Pope celebrated Mass at Lampedusa in southern Italy, to remember the thousands of victims who have died at sea trying to enter Europe through the port city.

"How many of us, myself included, have lost our bearings; we are no longer attentive to the world in which we live; we don’t care; we don’t protect what God created for everyone, and we end up unable even to care for one another! And when humanity as a whole loses its bearings, it results in tragedies like the one we have witnessed," the Holy Father said in his homily on July 8, 2013.
